Microfibre deposited NiS2 for all-fibre optical thresholding

Abstract

Abstract We demonstrate a microfibre deposited NiS2 for optical thresholding. By employing the fabricated NiS2 device, an all-optical thresholding function based on the saturable absorption effect has been successfully realized. The signal-to-noise ratio of the input pulse signal can be improved from 2.7 dB to 14.5 dB. The results achieved indicate that this NiS2-based microfibre device could be operated as an excellent nonlinear photonics device for all-optical signal processing.
