Emphasises the importance of libraries
adopting a marketing approach and examines
some of the lessons which they can learn
from profit‐making organisations. Describes
a marketing strategy and some techniques
including Friends of the Library,
publications, programmes of events, the
media and effective presentation of stock.
Hampshire County Library′s “Hantsline”
provides an excellent example of an overall
approach to marketing.
