Abstract

Introduction: The years 2020 and 2021 were characterized by the COVID-19 epidemic in Cuba, which led to the adaptation of academic courses with the premise of flexible learning processes, through the suspension of in-person activities and modification of the teaching curriculum. Objective: To describe the results of the state exam during the epidemic period. Methods: An observational, descriptive, retrospective study was conducted based on the analysis of promotion reports and official models 36.19 and 36.20 from the Postgraduate Directorate for the years 2020-2021. Results: A total of 173 residents were presented for the state exam, 111 from medical specialties and 62 from stomatological specialties, all of whom passed with a 100% promotion rate. Of those who took the state exam, 49.7% obtained final grades above 95 points, and 78.0% obtained grades above 90 points. Residents in the specialties of Dermatology and Intensive and Emergency Medicine obtained the best academic results. Conclusions: The Miguel Enríquez Faculty of Medical Sciences graduated all residents presented for the state exam during the epidemic period with quality education.
