Electron Energy-Loss Spectroscopy used for Localized Compton Scattering

Abstract

It has been shown that electron-energy loss spectroscopy (EELS) can be used to measure the ground state momentum of electrons in a sample by Compton scattering. Furthermore electrons passing through a crystalline foil suffer orientation effects explained by dynamical theory. Here experiments are described which attempt to measure momentum distributions at different parts of the unit cell.
