Abstract
abstract
References have been made in the past to the absence of tsunamis and seismic seiches in the Indian Ocean. However, a survey of available literature indicates that at least 27 such waves have been reported. Most of these were reported from the coastal regions of the seismically active Indonesian Arc, whereas progressively fewer such waves were reported from the coastal regions adjacent to the Bay of Bengal, Arabian Sea, and the southeastern coast of Africa and the western coast of Australia.
