Abstract

Abstract The new compounds Ca9Mn4Bi9 and Ca9Zn4Bi9 crystallize in the orthorhombic system (Pbam) with Ca9Mn4Bi9: a = 2242 ± 2 pm, b = 1256 ± 1 pm, c = 472 ± 1 pm, Ca9Zn4Bi9: a = 2212 ± 2 pm, b = 1264 ± 1 pm, c = 465 ± 1 pm. In the structure of the isotypic compounds there are Mn(Zn)Bi4-tetrahedra connected to chains by common corners. Four of these chains are connected by common comers to „Einervierfachketten“ in Liebau’s nomenclature for inosilicates.
