Abstract
The stability of (SiF3)2O and the chemical behaviour with HF and CsF has been described. The reactivity of hexafluorodisiloxane with various strongly oxidizing fluorides (XeF6, XeF4, XeF2, KrF2, IF7, BrF5, ClF5, ClF3, ClF, UF6) and oxide fluorides (XeOF4, ClO2F) was investigated, particularly with respect to the preparation of oxide fluorides such

in comparison to hydrolysis reactions with H2O or SiO2/HF. In summary, all the studied compound react more slowly with (SiF3)2O than with H2O. The reaction (1) can be recommended as a safe procedure to prepare XeOF4. By heating a mixture of UF6 and (SiF3)2O uranium oxide fluorides are obtained. With β-UV irradiation was observed. It is remarkable that many of the investigated fluorides and fluorine oxidize the (SiF3)2O to oxygen. (SiFa3)2O shows no reaction with HF. IF7 catalyzes only the decomposition of (SiF3)2O.
