The authors eloquently show how GSTo is bound to JNK under normal conditions and then is released upon stress induction, as with UV irradiation. GSTo can then homodimerize to gain activity, and JNK can phosphorylate its many downstream effectors involved in the stress response. The identification of this interaction will allow the use of GST inhibitors to target stress signaling cascades.
