J Allergy Clin Immunol 2000, 106:1070–1074. This paper was the first to report the strikingly high prevalence of mouse allergen in home environments of inner-city children with asthma, and suggests that further study is desirable in evaluating the role of mouse allergens in homes.

The National Cooperative Inner-City Asthma Study. J Allergy Clin Immunol 2000, 106:1075–1080. This paper, in conjunction with the paper above, further defined the role of mouse allergens in inner-city children with asthma. It evaluated the relationships between sensitization, exposure, and atopy, and found that exposure along with atopy to other allergens significantly increased the risk for mouse allergen sensitization. This again suggests that further study of mouse allergen in home environments is desirable.
