Abstract

The numbers of aquatic ornamental plant growers and hobbyists in India are increasing because of the introduction of new hybrid lotus (Nelumbo sp) and waterlilies (Nymphaea sp) mainly from South East Asian countries.Many insect pests are damaging different parts of the plants which are also causing economic loss.Among them the larvae of Leaf cutter moth (Elophilaobliteralis), thrips (Thrips flavus, T. tabaci), spider mites (Oligonychus spp. and Tetranychus spp.), caterpillarsare common and tough to eradicate from the aquascapes and the nursery pools of the aquatic farms.
