Abstract

A mathematical model is proposed for assessing the energy consumption and energy efficiency of cellular communication systems, taking into account the possible energy losses on backhaul. It is shown that these losses depend on the applied technology options (fiber, microwave), topology solutions (star, tree, ring), and the area throughput.
