Prediction of Stochastic Endurance Strength

Abstract

Engineers use fatigue strength modification factors as suggested by Marin in various forms, all of them deterministic. There are advantages to the designer in using these factors in a stochastic form to realize a reliabiltiy goal in critical design for strength. The paper quantifies some of these factors and presents specific examples of their use.
