Abstract
Abstract
The theory of laminar pipe flow has been developed, retaining the effect of the earth’s rotation. A secondary flow is set up in the pipe cross section which results in distortion of the usual parabolic profile. The distortion may be significant in pipes of moderate diameter. Laboratory studies tend to substantiate these conclusions.
