Abstract
Temperature measurement experiments with an intake port model and analysis of heat transfer phenomena in the intake port model were carried out, and the influence of the high temperature intake valve to the heat transfer phenomena and the unsteady effect to heat transfer coefficient were investigated. From the results of steady flow experiments with a high temperature intake valve which was heated by a small electric heater, it came to be clear that the change of valve temperatures had little influence to the change of Nusselt number but Nusselt number changed greatly by mass flow rate of gas, and the heat quantity transferred from the heated intake valve was much greater than that from inside wall surface of the intake port model. And the results of unsteady flow experiments, it became clear that the relationship between Nusselt number and Reynolds number was changed by the flow condition of accelerating gas velocity, but this difference was not observed in decelerating gas velocity conditions.
