On a Variational Theorem in Coupled Thermoelasticity

Abstract

Washizu’s principle for stresses, displacements, and strains in isothermal elasticity is extended to the field of coupled thermoelasticity. All field equations, including solid and thermal strain-displacement relations, are deduced from the extended functional. The relation to other known theorems is discussed.
