Abstract
In this paper, a study is made of the flexural, elastic-wave propagation and vibration of laminated rods and beams of sandwich construction. The problem is treated two-dimensionally, and the solution satisfies exactly the elasticity equations and the boundary conditions. The frequency equation obtained has multiple roots, and the dispersion curve consists of a number of branches corresponding to the fundamental and higher modes of vibration. Numerical examples are given for the beams composed of aluminum and plastics.
