Testing the World’s Largest Gas Turbines

Abstract

Emprise Corporation designed and managed construction for a new state-of-the-art facility (Test Stand 8) and for a radical upgrade and renovation of a circa 1972 test facility (Test Stand 3). General Electric will use Test Stand 8 for prototype 9H (50 Hz) gas turbine testing, and will use Test Stand 3 for 7F (60 Hz) gas turbine testing. This paper summarizes the unique challenges and innovative solutions that were required for these projects.
