The Mechanics of Plate Rotors for Turbo Generators

Abstract

Abstract With the rapid development of turbo-generators during the last five years, the length of the rotors has practically been doubled. More or less elaborate mechanical calculations, especially of the “plate rotors,” have been evolved and experiments have been carried out in order to place the design of this apparatus on a rational basis. In this paper some of the mechanical problems which have come up in connection with this development are discussed in detail.
