Abstract
Abstract
The usual theory of hydrodynamic lubrication is based on the assumption that the inertia forces in the equations of motion are negligible compared to the viscous forces. This paper shows that if the Reynolds number ρRω/μ is of the same order as R/h, then the inertia forces will be of the same order as the viscous forces.
