Abstract

The heat transfer and flow in a separated region downstream of a backward facing step have been investigated for fixed rates of suction and injection through a slot at the base of the step, with air velocities in the free stream in the range from 50 to 150 fps to demonstrate the relative effects of the suction and injection. In this way the length of the separated region was altered substantially, with consequent changes in the magnitude and distribution of the local heat-transfer coefficient.
