MAPS-1: Computer-Aided Design System for Preliminary Material and Manufacturing Process Selection

Abstract

A computer-aided design system for suggesting candidate manufacturing process and material combinations for a part is described. The system uses an interactively generated twelve-digit classification code to eliminate unsuitable combinations from consideration and rank the remainder. The ranking system is still under development.
