Abstract
Often electrical cable assemblies are required to operate under hostile environmental conditions which lead to the need for periodic maintenance. Several designs have been introduced, however many address repairability while sacrificing environmental suitability.
A repairable cable assembly has been designed which addresses both the environmental aspects of applications and ease of repair. The technique can be applied to the two basic types of shielded cable, the conduit type and the braided outer jacket type. The repairable design feature provides excellent shielding from EMI/RFI, is waterproof, and can be pushed back for easy access to the back of connectors to facilitate replacement of contacts.
