Abstract
Taxonomic history and occurrence of Justicia beddomei in India is discussed. Detailed description, photographs, conservation assessment, ecology and distributional notes are provided along with a comparison of the closely allied species J. adhatoda. The paper also discusses the identity of the raw drug ‘Vasa’ in Indian Systems of Medicine-Ayurveda.
