Emended description of Zamia sandovalii (Cycadales: Zamiaceae), the cliff-dwelling cycad from Atlántida, Honduras

Abstract

Zamia sandovalii is an acaulescent, cremnophilous cycad with long, pendulous leaves endemic to the Department of Atlántida, Honduras. The original description, though valid, is lacking a thorough and robust elaboration of its characteristics, which is provided here. Also included here is a treatise on its taxonomic and biogeographic affinities and a diagnostic key to the Z. splendens species complex as circumscribed herein.
