Abstract

This article describes the recent development and publication by the UK's Engineering Council of a set of sustainability principles and related guidance primarily for engineers, but with a potentially wider audience. This was developed by bringing together expert thinking from across the engineering profession and distilling it into a clear and concise set of principles that are relevant to all areas of engineering. It has been welcomed as a milestone in the development of the profession.
