Optimisation of adhesive anchors in concrete by desirability function

Abstract

This paper presents a desirability function approach to finding the optimal combination of process parameters for multiple performance characteristics of adhesive anchors in concrete. In setting the process parameters, the main goal was to achieve the maximum pull-out strength for the minimum amount of adhesive material used for anchoring. The problem can be considered as a multi-objective optimisation. Embedment length and hole diameter were considered as the important factors influencing the anchorage system. A full factorial design was used in the experiment, and response surface methodology was used to model the responses.
