This issue marks the 25th anniversary of the publication of Municipal Engineer as a part of the Proceedings of the Institution of Civil Engineers. This briefing outlines the journal's history, aims and scope, content and the way in which it has responded to changes in the municipal engineering profession. It then looks ahead to the journal's future.
