Assessment of concrete structures subjected to fire—the FBTest

Abstract

One of the main problems in the assessment of concrete structures that have been subjected to a fire is determining the depth of deteriorated concrete. In order to do that, a new method, the fire behaviour test (FBTest), has been developed. With it the depth of deteriorated concrete is quantified by resorting to the measurement of the water absorption and tensile failure stress characteristics in discs obtained from cores drilled from the structure under analysis.
