Abstract
The Paper describes the results of an experiment which was carried out to compare the sulphate expansion of granite and limestone concretes. In spite of the higher porosity of limestone aggregate, lower expansion and permeability as well as higher strength were observed in limestone concrete. Better functional properties of this kind of concrete result from the formation of calcium monocarboaluminate hydrate mainly in the cement paste aggregate interface.
