Abstract
Synopsis This paper presents equations for proportioning skew or orthogonal tension and/or compression reinforcement to resist a triad of in-plane forces. The problem obtaining a ductile failure is discussed, and limits applicability of mild and high-strength steel as pression reinforcement are suggested. It is also indicated how the design equations might be used to proportion reinforcement to resist combinations of moments in-plane forces.
