Abstract

The results of a comprehensive study of the non-linear load-deformation response of laterally loaded single piles embedded in heavily overconsolidated clays are presented. These results show the influence of soil shear strength on both deformations and bending moments. Detailed discussions of soil properties, an illustrative example and a case history study are provided to facilitate application of these data to design.
