Abstract
True aneurysms of the superficial femoral artery (SFA) are rarely seen. The authors report a case of SFA aneurysm associated with an aneurysm of the abdominal aorta, and they review the literature. These aneurysms mostly occur in the elderly as compared with other peripheral aneurysms. The majority of these aneurysms remain silent and present with the onset of serious complications. Since the mortality and morbidity after surgical repair are quite low, the presence of the aneurysm itself should prompt surgical repair even in the asymptomatic patient.
