Abstract
The 1990s have seen an explosive growth of the Internet and the World Wide Web (WWW). This growth has occurred secondary to dramatic improvements in computer hardware and software in addition to their ready availability to millions of users. The Web has put information and commerce in a medium that is simple to access. A number of web sites are dedicated to vascular surgery. This manuscript describes some of the basic aspects of electronic communications and their potential implications for vascular surgery.
