This article proposes that the concept of depoliticization can be usefully employed to facilitate our understanding of the components of urban governance networks. It first defines the concept of depoliticization and then proposes a model to operationalize this concept for usage in concrete field situations. It outlines this concept with reference to the concepts of politicization and politics and identifies its different tactics. The article also provides a review of the authors who have worked with this framework, specifically in the field of development studies, and highlights the importance of this concept in facilitating our understanding of governance, especially in the urban development projects working in democratic societies.
