Abstract
Using D type flip flops in state machine design A simplified method of designing Finite State Machines (FSM) is described, which is suitable for students at undergraduate level. The method allows students to develop realistic FSM designs in a short time, without the usual need for much practical experience. The paper uses two simple examples to show how the method is applied.
