Abstract
Chronic mental patients are best treated in sociotherapeutic groups. The author gives a general perspective on this `anamorphic' form of Group-analytic psychotherapy, with useful clues as to the construction of therapeutic groups, linking them with the phenomenological approach. Metaphors are useful in socio-therapeutic groups, and this is exemplified in humorous vein in the last part of the paper
