Abstract
Anxiety is present at the beginning of everyone’s education. Trainees are generally aware of their fears and attempt to cope with them. Trainees use various methods to make themselves feel better as a member of a group and as a conductor. The authors of this article present the manners in which conductors use group dreams during training, even when the dreams are not analysed by the group. Vignettes from sessions depict group dreams and the conductors’ association with these dreams. The authors observed that, with group process development and because of the maturing of the conductors, the group dreams provoked a less associative course of their own, and the conductors became capable of experiencing the group dreams in the same manner they would experience any type of group content.
