Abstract
This study is based on the investigation of lungs from 21 traumatic and non-traumatic death cases without any specific disease, including 4 traumatic immediate death cases with fracture. According to our investigation definite fat embolism develops, even in an immediate death case, with severe fracture and it is easily distinguishable from that of non-traumatic causes. In cases of traumatic immediate death, widespread pulmonary fat embolism can be a very useful marker of ante-mortem reaction.
