Abstract
This is a discussion of causes, paint or environmental, and the risks associated with lead exposure, the current treatment, and questions about the propriety of subjecting asymptomatic children to the grueling and painful and questionably efficacious treatment known as chelation. Pharmacists involved in treatment should consider this message and concern when participating in lead poisoning pharmacotherapy. Pharmacists in the health care and general communities should share this message with pediatric and public health officials.
