Abstract
Infection of the maxillary sinus is frequently treated by the general practitioner, since it is usually a complication of upper respiratory tract infections and acute nasal allergy. This study considers the bacteriology of the maxillary sinus infection and looks at the therapeutic response to amoxycillin and azithromycin. It is notable that resistance of Haemophilus influenzae to amoxycillin has. increased. Azithromycin proved very effective, having the advantage of a much simpler dosing regimen.
