Abstract

Texture parameters derived from on-line digitized images of 100 Giemsa-stained early and mature human marrow cells were evaluated as possible nuclear descriptors for automatic analysis. Two likely candidates are discussed. One correlates well with the progressive submembranous chromatin condensation observed with maturation. The other, from preliminary analysis, shows promise of paralleling the generally observed "fineness" or "coarseness" of nuclear appearance.
