Abstract

A DRAMA project for schools with a specific focus on sexuality-related issues was evaluated to gain in sights into the processes involved in developing the project and its reception by schools. Semi-structured interviews and focus group discussions were held with teachers and pupils from 7 of the 17 schools involved with the project. Findings emphasise the benefits of extensive preliminary consultation with schools and other agencies. Constraints of time- tabling and finance which may place limits on schools' use of visiting drama groups are identified, together with ways of minimising these. Issues re lating to the use of outside agencies in sex education are raised. Finally, the evaluation reaffirms the effec tiveness of a drama-based approach to health education.
