Abstract
THIS study examines teachers' reaction to, and use of, a cancer education resource, Teaching about Can cer. The booklet was mailed to 1,260 English second ary schools in October 1989 and an evaluation questionnaire was sent out the following February. Analysis of the results showed that, Teaching about Cancer, was most often used with pre-GCSE pupils of average to above average ability, where it was rated good or very good. Most often this resource was used in the biological sciences or personal, social and health education areas of the curriculum. Teachers considered the bookletto be useful or very useful for these topics. The evaluation revealed that all ele ments of design (overall design, content, colour, illustrations, quality and pupil activities) were rated very highly. Over half the respondents had never pre viously used any other cancer education materials.
