Abstract
Residents from three facilities located in one county in the southeastern United States partici pated in an in-house communication course made up of six weekly sessions. Activities for each session cncluded creative dramatics, interpretive reading, and group discussion. The subjects participated most in interpretive reading and participation levels remained high across the sessions. Participation in group discussion varied from session to session. The subjects participated least in creative dramatics, but willingness to participate increased throughout the course. Age appeared unrelated to subjects' level of participation. Among subjects who attended regularly (N = 19), participation across the three activities increased over time.
