Abstract
The HIV/AIDS epidemic serves as an appropriate framework for evaluating various health care reform proposals. The author reviews the general health care needs of persons with HIV, current methods of financing AIDS care, and various models of health care reform. Principles for assuring appropriate care and for assessing reform proposals and their effect on HIV-related care are presented.
