Abstract
Mentally retarded adults responded well to group treatment that had beneficial effects on their expressiveness, socialization skills, and self-image, countering the belief that they do not respond to therapy. Adjustments in the group approach, empathetic attitudes, and high expectations from the leaders facilitated a positive outcome.
