Abstract
This article traces the rise and fall of Underground Atlanta, a tourist attraction which once attracted millions of visitors annually and which now lies abandoned. The reasons behind its failure, the lessons that its demise might provide other public and private interests, and the hopes for its resurrection are outlined.
