Abstract
In this piece the author explores the role and impact of her changing identity in the context of study on a doctoral program. The author has a business background which proves a contrast to the experiences she encounters. The doctorate is a taught program incorporating structured modules for the first 2 years followed by a research thesis. The text illustrates the different, often opposing, environments and encapsulates many of the issues faced by the author.
