Abstract
As technology develops and customer expectations rise, the furniture industry must innovate and adapt to meet changing market needs. Digital technology is widely seen as a significant catalyst for development in the sector. The paper explores the furniture company UniHome’s journey towards digital transformation, from selling furnishing products to offering technology-driven interior design services. During its transformation, UniHome shifted its focus from the physical store experience to e-commerce shopping, showcasing furniture products with augmented reality (AR), interacting with customers through chatbots, and offering generative AI services. In order to evaluate the impact of any change initiative, UniHome must take into account factors such as business-IT alignment, operational costs, customer satisfaction, and sales growth. The objective of this article is to assist readers in developing a more sophisticated business mindset and understanding how to leverage emerging technologies to advance current developments, yet also recognising potential challenges that may arise.
