Abstract

This article describes a project designed to develop and test a bilingual instrument to measure Spanish-speaking clients' perceptions of social work interventions in prenatal care programs. The Likert method of scaling was employed in constructing three alternate forms of an instrument to measure consumers' perception of the following subdimensions: (a) attitudes toward prenatal services in general, (b) attitudes toward the institution providing the services, (c) attitudes toward the social work profession and practice, and (d) attitudes toward the social work inter vention experienced. The first three subdimensions were considered as possible influences that could affect the perception of the clients on the fourth and main dimension of concern.
